Marmara University is uniquely located in the heart of Istanbul, with its campuses harmoniously spread across both the European and Asian sides of the Bosphorus, blending urban life with modern facilities and green landscapes.

Number and Locations

The university has 9 campuses located across different districts of Istanbul.
The main campus is in Göztepe – Kadıköy, on the Asian side. It is the largest and hosts the faculties of medicine, engineering, and administrative sciences.
Other campuses include: Acıbadem, Anadoluhisarı, Bağlarbaşı, Kartal, Sultanahmet, Haydarpaşa, Pendik, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Campus in Maltepe.

Comfortable and Secure Accommodation for Female Students

Marmara University offers on-campus housing options within some of its campuses, primarily designated for female students. These dormitories provide a safe and comfortable environment within close proximity to academic facilities.

Özmen Aktar Dormitory (Female Students – Göztepe Campus)

  • Accommodates approximately 478 female students

  • Each room includes a private bathroom and toilet

  • Facilities include 24/7 hot water, three study rooms, a recreation lounge, cafeteria, laundry room, hairdressing service, and a computer lab with internet access

Handan Ertuğrul Dormitory (Under renovation – Göztepe Campus)

  • Includes 12 shared rooms, each hosting 8 students in a layout of 4 bunk beds

  • Rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, personal lockers, tables, and chairs

  • Each room has a private bathroom and access to 24/7 hot water and laundry services

  • Common facilities include a study room, TV-video lounge, and computer center with internet

Important Note: Currently, on-campus housing is not available for male students at Marmara University.

How to Apply

  • Housing applications are submitted after receiving admission to a university program

  • Applications are made through the International Office or Dormitory Unit at the Göztepe campus

  • Due to the limited number of available spots, students are advised to apply immediately after receiving their acceptance letter and not delay the process.

Academic Accreditations and Recognitions – Marmara University

1. National Institutional Accreditation (YÖKAK)
Marmara University received full institutional accreditation from the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) following a comprehensive evaluation in December 2023 under the Institutional Accreditation Program. This confirms the university’s commitment to the highest standards in education, research, and institutional governance.

2. International Program-Specific Accreditations

  • Medicine: The joint medical program between Marmara University and Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) is internationally accredited by TEPDAD, making it the first internationally recognized joint medical program in Turkey and Northern Cyprus.
